Northrop Grumman’s CRS-16 Cygnus spacecraft, dubbed “S.S. Ellison Onizuka”, was captured with the International Space Station’s robotic Canadarm2 by NASA astronaut Megan McArthur and ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet, on 12 August 2021, at 10:07 UTC (06:07 EDT). For NASA’s Commercial Resupply Services-2 (CRS-2) NG-16 mission, Cygnus delivers approximately 3720 kg (8,200 pounds) of research, crew supplies, and hardware to the International Space Station. The NG-16 Cygnus Cargo Delivery Spacecraft is named in honor of Ellison Onizuka, the first Asian American and the first person of Japanese origin to reach space. The audio commentary is provided by NASA’s Public Affairs Officer Shaneequa Vereen.
