A park ranger has been caught on camera tasering a man for stepping off the trail at a national monument.

The park ranger confronted the victim and his cousin as they were walking a dog around the trail.

The victim, who is part Native American, was observing his right to visit the land surrounding the monument.

The victim’s cousin later tweeted the location of the incident in relation to the trail to highlight this fact.

The Alburquerque City Council has announced a federal investigation into the incident.
