A Royal Bengal Tiger injured two people after it went on the rampage in the town of Tezpur in Assam, India.

Forest officials believe the tiger must have strayed out of the Kaziranga National Park or Nameri National Park and Forest Reserve.

Amateur footage captures the terrifying moment the tiger leapt onto a man and knocked him into a deep pit.

A veterinary team and other supporting staff were sent to the spot to review the situation. They hope to chase the animal away or tranquilise it in order to transfer it safely back to the wild.
