Ruptly is live from Hikone on Wednesday, December 29, after heavy snowfall leads to travel disruption and power outages.

More than 100 domestic flights were already grounded on Sunday in the northern and western parts of the country, and people in areas along the Sea of Japan were warned to refrain from non-essential outings.

Heavy snow also caused some blackouts due to its accumulation on power cables. Heavy wind and low temperatures are expected for the next few days.
