‘Geronimo the Alpaca’s Owner Feels “Abused” by Government’

“[I’m] tired, fed up, frustrated, feeling abused by the Government,” said Helen Macdonald, the owner of Geronimo the alpaca, when asked how she was feeling. “You know, this has been going on for four years, and that’s what it is, it’s bullying! I mean, they’ve been bullying me from day one.”

The alpaca’s owner says she’s “feeling abused” by the Government, who ordered her alpaca
to be euthanised after he tested positive for bovine tuberculosis, twice. She believes the tests
are returning false positives and she has been refused permission to have him tested a third time.

“I mean, I sympathise with the government,” Macdonald continued. “They have a policy that they do need to remove diseased cattle, but we need better testing. They’re killing badgers as well. The whole science needs looking at properly.”
