Joint NATO-Georgia military exercises Agile Spirit 2021 continued in Vaziani near Tbilisi on Wednesday.

The troops took part in shooting drills using tanks and armoured vehicles and also worked together on medical treatment exercises.

According to lieutenant colonel Tamaz Avaliani, commander of Georgia’s 31st battalion, the Agile Spirit 2021 “has entered an active phase”.

“Today, operation ‘Koncheteviti’ was directly implemented by the combined actions of Georgian and Ukrainian units, which were supported by heavy artillery and an engineering unit. The ‘Koncheteviti’ operation was aimed to destroy the enemy and to return to the deployment area, which the unit successfully coped with,” Avaliani said.

The joint military exercises involve around 1,600 Georgian and 700 American soldiers, as well as 250 military personnel from 13 NATO member and partner countries.

The Agile Spirit drills have been held annually since 2011, and this year take place from July 26 to August 6.
