At least two people have been killed after a rare Mediterranean cyclone made landfall in Greece.

Cyclone Ianos, known as “medicane” (Mediterranean hurricane), has left behind a path of destruction as it continues to batter the country.

Hurricane-force winds and heavy rain struck several islands off the western coast of Greece, before moving in on the mainland.

Hundreds of people have been trapped in flooded buildings, and power outages have been reported.

Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors, as schools across several areas remain closed.
