Police officers rescued a 24-year-old woman after she drove her minivan into the freezing waters of the Mahoning River in Alliance, Ohio.

According to local reports, the young woman fell asleep at the wheel driving home from work and found herself trapped inside her vehicle as it sank into the water.

She called emergency services from inside the van as the water level rose.

Bodycam footage shows the moment an officer smashed a window with an axe and pulled the woman to safety.
