Found a riding buddy. May 11th 2010. Answer to frequently asked question; If you shift w/o clutch and you here any kind of noise then yes, you should stop doing that and use the clutch, that means you are not doing it right. When you do it right, it feels 1000 to 2000 times smoother than using the clutch, you have to rev match not just pull on the shifter so it doesn't have that clunk sound same as when you use the clutch. Shifting w/o clutch will make your tranny shift smoother afterwards. When you rev match the teeth on gears are not touching each other. People who ride my bike are in total shock, fear, terror, amazement ..... ect.. they ask me why is my tranny shifts so smooth, why is it 100 times smoother then their bikes with 2-4k miles which they probably think it's like twice as less than my bike but when I tell them it has 35k. miles..., some of them manage not to pass out. I have a lot of cousins driving semi trucks (18 wheelers), and they say if you want your tranny to last, you can not use clutch to shift.
