The Heinkel He 219 Uhu ('owl' in German) was a German night fighter of the Luftwaffe in the final stages of World War II. The specifications for an advanced night fighter were published by the RLM in 1942 and the He 219 was the product of that program: a relatively sophisticated aircraft. It is speculated that having disposed of it in large amounts, Uhu could have had a significant effect on the strategic bomber offensive RAF. Although few hundred aircraft entered service and severely beaten to the RAF, the initial impact of He 219 had no significance over the course of the war.
