Medium shot of ministers sitting in meeting STORYLINE: The funeral of a Hamas militant was held in the Jebaliya refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, on Sunday. The man was killed in an overnight Israeli airstrike which was part of a broader Israeli military operation aimed at freeing an Israeli soldier taken captive by Palestinian militants a week ago. According to the Israeli army, the militant was killed when their air force targeted Hamas facilities in the northern refugee camp. Hundreds of Palestinians attended the funeral and chanted anti-Israeli slogans. Meanwhile in the southern Gaza Strip, Israeli tanks and bulldozers could be seen operating around Gaza's destroyed airport and the Rafah refugee camp. In Gaza City, Palestinian Prime Minister, Ismail Haniyeh, was assessing the damage to his office on Sunday, following an overnight Israeli airstrike. He said the missile strike "won't break the Palestinian people's will but it will deepen the existing crisis". Fatah's Nabil Abu Rdeneh also condemned Israel's actions. "The Israelis should stop their military escalation, they should stop their bombardment, they should stop their assassinations and they should understand that peace cannot be forced," he said. Because of the early hour of the strike - 1:45 a.m. (2345 GMT Saturday) - the building was empty. A bystander was slightly injured. A few minutes later, Israeli aircraft hit a school in the city, setting a building on fire, witnesses and rescue workers said. No one was hurt. Other targets overnight were Hamas facilities in northern Gaza. Palestinian security officials said two militants were wounded. One later died of his wounds, hospital officials said. He was the second militant killed in the week-long Israeli operation.
