(19 Jan 2020) The head of the World Economic Forum on Sunday said it's "reassuring" that US President Donald Trump and teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg will both return to its annual meeting in Davos this year.
Speaking in Davos, WEF founder Klaus Schwab said concerns about the environment will be a top agenda item at the summit.
Schwab noted the vast changes in business, society and culture over the 50 years since he created the annual gathering in the Swiss Alps, initially as a forum for business leaders - which has morphed into a coveted event for key policymakers and activists too.
The forum is shifting its focus of recent years from the Fourth Industrial Revolution - a term coined by Schwab to depict how technology is transforming lives - to the environment and responsible business.
The forum chief also said nearly all European Union heads of state or government will be on hand for the event this year, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
