The Ministry of Culture declared the Cultural Patrimony of the Nation to the Huaylía de Chumbivilcas, Cusco, for being a genre of music and dance resulting from a series of mestizaje processes, which has become the musical framework of important dates of the festive calendar and of ritual practices in the area, mainly during the celebration of Christmas. The resolution refers exclusively to the musical and dance expression known as Huaylía de Chumbivilcas and does not extend to elements that violate the fundamental rights of people or that contain acts of cruelty and animal sacrifice, as established in the R.M. 338-2015-MC.   The huaylía is a genre of music and dance that has presence in different provinces of the regions of Apurímac, Ayacucho, Cusco, Huancavelica and Junín, showing particularities and distinctive elements in each of these places. However, it is recurrent to find it linked to festive contexts in the Andes.
