Woman Accused of Slapping Girl Over Ice Cream Dispute

By: Robert PriceDeputies say a ten-year-old girl is slapped in the face by a neighbor, all because of an argument over ice cream.Investigators say 29-year-old Talysa Herron slapped the girl in the face for not sharing ice cream with her daughter.Robert Price spoke to the young girl about what happened.10-year-old Amanda and her mom Cyndi still can't believe what happened."It's upsetting," said Amanda Russell."She's devastated," said mother Cyndi Lafontaine. "She's afraid to go outside in her own yard. She looks behind her everywhere she goes."Amanda says she's afraid of 29-year-old Talysa Herron, also known as "TT", a neighbor accused of slapping her across the face."It's over an ice cream," said Amanda."All on ice cream," said Cyndi.It's a "Mississippi Mud" ice cream sandwich, to be specific. That's what Amanda bought from an ice cream truck one Saturday night last month. And, investigators say, it's what eventually led Herron to slap Amanda.Young Amanda was hanging out with friends from the neighborhood at a nearby playground. She says she was eating her ice cream when a 4-year-old girl started grabbing for it -- said she wanted the ice cream -- and wouldn't take 'no' for an answer.""She said, 'Ooh, ice cream. Mandy has ice cream.' And then she ran up to me and bit me."Amanda says she slapped the girl's hand away and started walking home. But on her way, she was confronted by that four-year-old's mom..."TT"."She said, 'If I can hit my children, I can hit you too'," said Amanda. "She opened her hand like this...and right here...hit right there."Amanda says the slap knocked her to the ground...but she was still able to run home."Amanda's got her face, holding it, and screaming bloody murder," said Cyndi. "I'm thinking she got hit by a car. I'm freakin' out.""I've never got slapped like that before in my life," said Amanda.Cyndi says "TT" then came by the house and started yelling at her some more."Why are you so mad? You hit my kid," said Cyndi, "I'm not getting that. That's not computin' up here. Instead of her driving past my house and hitting my kid, she should have stopped, got me, and said let's go handle what happened."Amanda says her left eye was bruised and swollen for several days, but she's doing better now.Talysa Herron was arrested Friday night by the Bexar County Sheriff's Office and charged with Injury to a Child. She's now out of jail, free on bond.
