Installing a new electrical outlet.
Note: I sometimes call the white wires ground. It would be better if I called them neutral or common. The ground wire is the bare copper wire here. Otherwise it is colored green. The neutral and ground both end up being connected together in your main electrical panel but they cannot be connected any where else in your circuits.
" By NEC Code the only time ground and neutral are bonded together is at your main service panel. In a sub-panel you must keep them separate, ground and neutral are not the same thing. Even though they bond together at the main service, they are two separate things. If you bond the neutral and ground together anywhere besides the service, the ground and neutral will both carry current and is dangerous."
