I have to be honest guys, I’ve been in a bit of a slump. I was terribly shocked at the results of my final weigh in and body scan, the both stayed exactly the same throughout the challenge. Time to up my game.
Saturday, I went to the Orangetheory transformation challenge big winner bowling party just to see who took home the bacon. Congratulations Fabiola and Joshua for winning that awesome huge check which I am not jealous of at all. . . I mean, which you both earned with your dedication and hard work. You guys must go to a different class time than I do because I have never seen you at the gym. Maybe I’ll run into you one of these days and can congratulate you in person. I really do enjoy seeing the success of my Orangetheory teammates. My excellent friend Lisa who I met at Orangetheory (and now we have happy hour every Friday) made Coaches pick. Lisa has lost a total of 14.4 pounds since she started her challenge. Lisa is such a wonderful lady and I have really enjoyed getting to know her. I look forward to many, many more happy hours with Lisa and all my OT crew.
So this week I am needing to set some new goals for myself. Obviously I can’t keep doing the same thing and expect different results so I’m going to have to make some changes if I want to continue reaching for my goal of JLo abs. This time I increased my protein and fats so much because I was worried I would lose muscle. I completely eliminated carbohydrates (except in fruit and vegetables) for the final 10 days of the challenge. Yet somehow I ended up with the same overall body fat. Soooooo, I’ve talked to a Nutritionalist who is going to analyze my food. She asked me to log every single thing I eat for the next 3 days and send it to her for review. Step one in the works.
Next, I was reminded that I should probably start tracking my own food in a more precise manner using one of the fitness apps such as My Fitness Pal. I’ve downloaded the app but I haven’t had time to set up my profile yet. Maybe I’ll do that on one of my upcoming videos. I have to be honest that tracking calories is a hard one for me. I really, really, REALLY hate doing it. I’m too lazy (actually too busy) to write down what I eat. I prefer having nothing but healthy, clean food in my house and then eating whatever I want. But apparently that isn’t getting me to my goal so I realize I will eventually need to suck it up and start tracking my own macros.
Finally (and this is a big one) I’ve talked to my OT trainers and the guys at Nutrishop and they all agree that Orangetheory is not a gym intended for bulking. Bottom line, if I want to add muscle to my frame (thus decreasing my body fat), I will have to do some heavier lifting at a different gym. Orangetheory is a wonderful overall workout but it’s primary intention is for leaning (IT WORKS). When I do Orangetheory 5 days a week, I actually leant out more than I want. I end up looking emaciated which is not the goal here. So, I do think I will need to add another gym membership into my mix. Yikes, my cost is going up here. I’m trying to get Jlo abs on a budget! Not sure I want to pay for 2 gym memberships.
