willow basket maker at Bad Duben, Germany 2008. Once a thriving basket making town, at its height in the 1940's making willow basket containers for munitions. There is only one family still making traditional willow baskets and other products such as bicycle front baskets for carrying small children. They also import high quality wares from nearby Poland. This short clip shows the workshop, with small saw table, a bath for soaking the willow, a maker working on a willow basket bed for a local kindegarten so children can take a power nap after lunch, a tidy tools rack and some products for sale.
