William Kraft: Concerto for Percussion and Orchestra

William Kraft (Born 1923): Concerto for Percussion and Orchestra Everett Firth, Harold Thompson, Thomas Gauger, Charles Smith, Arthur Press - percussion, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Erich Leinsdorf, conductor Recorded live November 3rd or 4th, 1967, Symphony Hall, Boston, Massachusetts American percussionist - composer William Kraft studied under Jack Beeson, Henry Cowell, and Henry Brant, among others. He organized and directed the Los Angeles Percussion Ensemble, a group which played a vital part in premieres and recordings of works by such renowned composers as Ginastera, Harrison, Krenek, Stravinsky, Varese, and many others. One of his best-known compositions is his Timpani Concerto (currently available on Albany Records). Other record labels devoted to his works include Harmonia Mundi, CRI, Cambria, Crystal, Albany, Nonesuch, GM, Crystal, London Decca, Townhall, EMI, and Neuma.
