First we lost Nene Leakes & Sheree, then we got them back. After that we lost Phaedra Parks and I thought Bravo was done breaking out hearts; but now it looks like were loosing Kenya Moore as well and that is where a lot of Real Housewives of Atlanta Viewers draw the line. Booo. Bravo Potomac is the new ATL anyway.
What Is RHOP? (Real Housewives of Potomac)
The Real Housewives of Potomac or RHOP is an American reality television series that premiered January 17, 2016, on Bravo. Developed as the eighth installment of The Real Housewives franchise, following The Real Housewives of Orange County, New York City, Atlanta, New Jersey, D.C., Beverly Hills and Miami, the show is now in its third season and focuses on the personal and professional lives of Gizelle Bryant, Ashley Darby, Robyn Dixon, Karen Huger, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, Monique Samuels, and Candiace Dillard. For a lot of us this show does not give us our reality TV fix and we still prefer the Atlanta Housewives, however we have to remember that it took RHOA a few years to get to this special place it holds in our hearts.
RHOA VS RHOA | #RHOP #RHOPReunion #YouTubeBlack #RHOA
There is no denying that The Real Housewives of Atlanta has had some iconic moments on the show and the RHOA cast have definitely earned their space in pop culture but, these days with the growth of social media which births new viral sensations every week, I can see that it’s gotten harder to keep the conversation going about RHOA. A lot of you know that I run an instagram account dedicated to the show for the last few years so I used their new questions feature to get some feedback from fans. I asked is RHOP the new RHOA? While I had an idea of how the responses would go, I still wanted to see what the people are saying and while most viewers are still rocking with RHOA, a lot of RHOA fans agreed that RHOP is actually bingeworthy.
Did Bravo Create RHOP To Replace Atlanta? | A Justin Diego Theory
Ok this is the point where you are either gonna be shook enough to give me a like and share this video or you’re going to click away after leaving a comment about how dramatic I am but hey I cant help it. I have no chill because I STAYWoKE!
In 2015 Bravo faced one of the biggest threats to the RHOA franchise when Nene Leakes threatened to walk away from the RHOA in pursuit of her Hollywood dreams and allegedly demanded more money than Bravo was willing to dish out at the time which ultimately led to them releasing RHOA season 8 that year without Nene.
This was a very awkward time for the show and Bravo definitely had a plan b and a plan c since they promised us a Nene Leakes and Kim Zolciak special titled Road to Riches which was cancelled a few months after the announcement. That sudden cancellation came right before Bravo surprised RHOA viewers by bringing back Nene Leakes to RHOA which helped restore our interest in the franchise after such a huge press buildup surrounding the queen’s return. I started taking a look at the timing of all this and I had forgot that Bravo made was strategic about Nene’s return holding off for the same night of the new all-black Real Housewives franchise premiere that none of us was expecting after so many years having RHOA for our black girl magic fix. Yes! The timing may have been a coincidence but I don’t think so. This scheme that Bravo had set up to come to us with the melanin earned the Real Housewives of Potomac the highest rated series premiere over ANY other Real Housewives city.
To make things more awkward the following season Nene Leakes didn’t appear at all on RHOA season 9 and the ratings of RHOA continued to fall. Now if my theory is correct about Bravo making an investment in securing the black viewers for Sunday nights just in case things went left from losing Nene Leakes is true, that plan has been a success. On one hand this theory seems a little messy especially if Nene Leakes wasn’t made aware that they’d be using her to save Sunday nights.
Will RHOP Replace RHOA on BravoTV?
Ratings play a huge role in how a show’s success is perceived and shows that have a consistent decline in ratings are a huge problem for the networks. However even with their rating dropping as low as 1.93 Million U.S. Viewers on an episode for season 10, it’s unlikely that Bravo will be replacing the Real Housewives of Atlanta with RHOP anytime soon, but if RHOA ratings continue to fall, Sunday nights on BravoTV may look a lot different in a couple of years and we know that Bravo has already taken steps to keep us tuned in either way.
