Learn the essential definitions of triangles. A triangle is a polygon with three sides. Triangles are classified on the basis of its angles or on the basis of its side lengths. The classification of triangles on the bases of its angles are: acute, right and obtuse triangles. The classification of triangles on the bases of its side lengths are: scalene, isosceles and equilateral triangles.
An acute triangle is a triangle with the three angles less than 90 degrees. A right triangle is a triangle with one of the angles equal to 90 degrees while an obtuse triangle is a triangle with one of the angles greater than 90 degrees.
A scalene triangle is a triangle in which none of the sides is equal to another side. An isosceles triangle is a triangle in which two of the sides are equal to each other while an equilateral triangle is a triangle in which all the three sides are equal to each other. A perpendicular bisector is a line which divides a segment into two equal parts.
