What is the Ancient Gate? - Starbound 1.0 Full Playthrough - Episode 3 - Starbound Survival Mode

Tonight I continue my (almost) blind Starbound 1.0 guide and playthrough in survival mode! Now that I have a base, it's time to go out and gather copper and iron ore for the long rise through the tech tree. Along the way, I discover the Ancient Gate with a cryptic transmission. But who is it from? In the third episode of this blind walkthrough of Starbound 1.0 survival mode, I continue my playthrough by gathering additional materials in the quest to build a farm. Fending off more killer birds, killer creatures, and killer falls, I take in a little spelunking, explore the starter planet, and come across what I image is a central plot device for Starbound 1.0: the Ancient Gate.
