After a tough few months, the West Somerset Railway pulled itself through with a commemorative anniversary gala. It celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the full reopening of the line, which took place in stages from 1976 to 1979. A feast of mixed traction took part in the event from steam to classic diesel traction, with good weather too which provided a nice shine to the event. The main highlight being the two Manors doubleheading hauling a 14 coach train along the whole line, so turn up the volume in just listen to them roar!
Locomotives featured:
BR (WR) Manor Class No.7828 Odney Manor along with No.7802 Bradley Manor
GWR 5700 Pannier Tank No.7752
BR Class 14 D9526 (making an unexpected appearence rescuing 7752 which failed at Wiliton)
BR Class 37 D6948
With this fine event, it is hoped that the WSR long continues to run into the future for generations to come.
