More than 100,000 Tibetans live in exile in India, many of them in settlement camps. In 2007 the Dalai Lama asked the Canadian government to accept 1000 of these Tibetans. And so the resettlement project began...The video describes the lives of Tibetans living as stateless people in remote northern India and the journey they will make to become citizens of Canada. The first Tibetans arrive in the summer of 2013. Over the next three years, ninety of them will come to Ottawa where they will be welcomed by Tibetans already established here and by other residents of Ottawa who want to help them get settled. The Catholic Center for Immigrants is offering an array of services such as language training and assistance in finding jobs. The Tibetan Resettlement Project Ottawa, a small group of volunteers, has committed to providing the newcomers with financial and other support for up to a year. You can help by contributing accommodation, jobs, furniture and household items, food, funds and friendship. For more information: (613) 730-6442,
