https://www.facebook.com/KevinLohGuitar Hey everyone! Recorded this piece during the Christmas break. I was introduced to this piece by my father. I really like this transcription, particularly the voicing in the classical style. The transcription is by the wonderful John Knowles, do check him out! http://www.johnknowles.com/about.htm Until the next break! Hope you all are having a great start to 2014! Cheers! Kevin "Vincent" is a song by Don McLean written as a tribute to Vincent van Gogh. It is also known by its opening line, "Starry Starry Night", a reference to Van Gogh's painting The Starry Night. The song also describes different paintings done by the artist. McLean wrote the lyrics in 1971 after reading a book about the life of the artist.[1] The following year, the song became the number one hit in the U.K. and No. 12 in the U.S.[2] In the US, "Vincent" also peaked at number two on the Easy Listening chart.[3] The song makes use of the accordion, vibraphone, strings, and guitar. In 2000, PBS aired Don McLean: Starry, Starry Night, a concert special that was filmed in Austin, Texas. Vincent Willem van Gogh was a post-Impressionist painter of Dutch origin whose work, notable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty and bold color, had a far-reaching influence on 20th-century art.
