Glière Henry Pauw van Wieldrecht was born in1863 in Zeist, a town in the central Netherlands, east of the city of Utrecht. He was of noble birth; his father being in the service of King William III, as Court Chamberlain.......There was no question as to a proper career for Henry,due the wealth and status of the family. He was, therefore, free to pursue his love for travelling, hunting and photography... However, in 1881, Henry studied law at Utrecht, graduating in 1887. The following year,having been part of the honour guard at the coronation of Queen Wilhelmina, he makes a trip to Norway and Finland with Jacob Willem des Tombe...These photographs are from this trip..... donated by the heirs of Pauw van Wieldrecht to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, together with other photographs, glass slides and travel journals.
