This traditional Andalucian village house sits in the centre of the white Pueblo of Polopos, and is around 305 sq meters in size, and unusually for a village house, includes a lovely garden area of approximately 100 sq metres. The village sits on the outskirts of the main Alpujarra mountain Region of Andalucia, where you can also find an array of pretty whitewashed villages and stunning scenery. The property was fully renovated in 2006, and needs no work or repairs. It is ready to move into and live in. Polopos is a mountain village, situated almost directly south of Granada. Five & a half miles to the south is the vast expanse of the Mediterranean Sea, while to the north are the peaks of the Sierra Nevada. This is not your mass tourism area, and although half a dozen houses are expatriate owned, tourists and Spanish visitors can be seen in the village. Polopos is reached by leaving the main N340 coastal motorway at Cortija La Guapa, La Mamola and winding the way up a good tarmac road. The journey takes less than 15 minutes by car & new vistas are seen at every bend. There is limited traffic on this road and you will find yourself stopping to take in the scenery & innumerable snaps. The village is a friendly place. There are less than 100 or so inhabitants, but they usually smile & say hello. The main occupation is farming; almonds being the chief crop, followed by vines, figs and various other fruits & vegetables. There is also a sizable flock of goats & sheep & owing to the hilly terrain, the use of mules is still a way of life. Various visiting mobile vendors serve the basic needs of the community & there are two deliveries per day of fresh bread. There is a village bar & the local "Costa Wine" is very good. Shopping can be supplemented by visiting Castell de Ferro and La Mamola, two villages on the coast, each having it's own weekly outdoor market, plus several supermarkets. You will also find several excellent, inexpensive local restaurants. In the main town of Motril some 20 minutes away, there is a twice weekly market & various other markets can be discovered inland. All along the coast there are stretches of beaches, many coves & inlets & the water is usually calm & crystal clear. Apart from the usual seaside sports you can swim, snorkel, fish, walk, ride a horse, paint, sample the local brew or just laze. This is really a unique village house finished to the highest standards throughout. It is a rare find as you have both the benefits of a beautifully landscaped garden and 2 roof terraces with incredible views. Located in a prominent and tranquil part of the village, the house is highest property in the village and therefore is not overlooked in any way. Access to the house is good and a car can be parked to one side making unloading the shopping easy! There are 2 entrances on split levels. The front entrance leads to the lower level whilst the second entrance gives access through the garden directly into the kitchen. On the lower level there is an ample entrance hall, 1 good sized bedroom and a storage room. Leading up the marble staircase you enter the large lounge with a the nice feature of a log burner. Due to the elevation of the property there is a considerable amount of natural light in this room, as with all other main living areas. Off the lounge is the kitchen/diner with a natural wood kitchen with all the mod cons however keeping a typical "country cottage type theme". Just to one side of the dining area is a bathroom which is ideal for guests when entertaining. On the next level are 3 double bedrooms serviced by a bathroom complete with bath and a separate jet powered shower unit. Two of the bedrooms are to the front of the property and have fantastic views down to the coast and of the surrounding countryside. On the roof top there is a utility room that leads onto large terrace with a staircase to another smaller terrace. There is a good sized garden to the rear of the property which is well established and easy to maintain. All connections are on site which includes mains water, mains electric, broadband and 4 independent satellite connections. External Area: Landscaped Garden built into the rock face with an abundance of fruit trees and herbs. There is a separate outbuilding in rustic brick which has been retained as a featured and is currently used for growing. A pool could be added if desired. The house is only 10 km from the coast and sits in a good sized village with homes used for either permanent living, holiday homes, or as rental properties.
