I always wished I had more of this training and education when I first started out. I would guess about the anatomy initially. It makes a difference to really know what you are palpating and why...it helps tremendously with identifying possible differentials and figuring out if this is a mucosal issue vs muscle vs ligamentous, nerve, organ or multiple...and yes, the trick is then knowing how to critically think and integrate that into a plan of care. . ?
