USTR lists US$200 bil. of Chinese goods to be hit with tariffs

미국 USTR, "트럼프 대통령, 2천억달러 대중 추가 관세 부과 지시" The Trump administration has announced another list of tariffs on 200-billion U.S. dollars of Chinese goods,... following through with the President's recent threats to escalate the trade spat with Beijing. We get a check on the very latest from our Kim Mok-yeon who's on the line for us. Mok-yeon,... Hi, Se-min,... on Tuesday, the U.S. trade representative Robert Lighthizer released a list of additional Chinese goods worth some 200 billion U.S. dollars... that could be hit with tariffs of 10 percent. In a statement, Lighthizer said that President Trump ordered the Office of the US Trade Representative to begin the process in response to China's imposition of 25 percent tariffs on 34 billion dollars worth of U.S. exports last week. The U.S. trade representative criticized Beijing, claiming its latest tariffs are a quote "retaliation" against Washington and that it lacked international legal basis or justification. The latest list of goods to face 10 percent punitive duties includes frozen meats, fresh fish and seafood, butter, onions, and a massive list of chemicals. The USTR will begin a public notice and comment process prior to the imposition of the final tariffs, which could come into effect as early as September. Back to you Se-min.
