Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation, along with its consortium partner and its customer, the Société de Transport de Montréal (STM), unveiled the next generation of transportation for Montréal, the AZUR metro car. The first nine-car train was presented on November 25, 2013, to the Premier of Québec, Pauline Marois, and the Mayor of Montréal, Denis Coderre, as well as to the Chairman of the STM, the Québec minister responsible for the region of Bas-St-Laurent, and the Mayor of La Pocatière. On behalf of the consortium, the event was hosted by Raymond Bachant, the president of Bombardier Transportation -- North America, joined by the more than 600 employees of Bombardier's La Pocatière manufacturing facility.
The consortium is completing trials on the prototype train at the La Pocatière plant and expects to ship the cars to Montreal in early 2014, where it will begin qualification testing, with the STM, at metro facilities. (Video in french)
