UK Senior Maths Challenge 1998 no.24 (S.9)

1998 senior challenge number 24. One of a set of mathematical short problems taken from UKMT’s mathematical challenges over the years. These questions are selected from the last five in each year’s challenge on the basis that very few manage to reach and/or complete them in the time given for the whole test. The idea here is that these can now be attempted individually within a similar period of time to that available in the challenge. The solutions given by the UKMT may have a different form as they have to be set out in print in their books, rather than as a visual explanatoin.
