United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan has held talks with British Prime Minister Tony Blair on the first day of his visit to the United Kingdom.
Annan is in Britain to attend celebrations marking the first Commonwealth day of the new millennium.
It's not known what was discussed at Monday's meeting, but the two men were expected to focus on the continuing problems in the Balkans and Blair's recent meeting in Moscow with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Earlier in the day, Annan and Blair had joined Queen Elizabeth the Second and her son, the Prince of Wales, at a celebration of the Commonwealth in London's Westminster Abbey.
A congregation of two-thousand - half of whom were schoolchildren from around Britain - had gathered at the Abbey for the observance on the first Commonwealth day of the millennium.
