Scores of anti-Brexit protesters gathered outside 10 Downing Street in London on Saturday to demand a say in the UK’s exit terms if Article 50 is triggered.
The demonstration was organised by pro-EU groups Britain for Europe and Students for the EU under the slogan “People’s Final Say.” Protesters draped themselves in EU flags and carried signs with messages like “Brex-shit” and “Brexit = Trump.”
MP for West Swansea, Geraint Davies who spoke at the protest, said “the people deserve a final say on the exit package” otherwise “we’ll end up in the hands of Donald Trump and others, negotiating unfair deals.”
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court in London ruled that UK Prime Minister Theresa May's government needs to get parliament's approval to launch Article 50 and formally begin the Brexit process.
Once the article is passed, the UK will have a two-year deadline to finalise any deals with the remaining 27 member states before all EU laws and treaties are terminated.
