Udayon starring Mohanlal in dual role along with Laya, Sukanya, Kalabhavan Mani in lead roles. Udayon is the story of Suranadu Kunju (Mohanlal senior), a stubborn patriarch, who believes in agrarian prosperity. He has four sons, the youngest being a school kid born out of his second marriage at an old age. None of his children except for the youngest share his enthusiasm for agriculture.
