Based in Texas, USA, Firestone & Robertson are a relatively new distilling company. Starting with a blended American whiskey (link to review below) they've finally released their very own TX Straight Bourbon.
In a crowded market, it's important to stand out. Firestone and Robertson are heading for that uniqueness by using Texas corn, Texas Wheat and, after extensive research and testing, a wild Texas yeast that was found on a pecan nut.
Unique is certainly what it is. On top of the wheaty notes you'd expect from a wheated bourbon, there's tons of dark fruits and cherries with plenty of oak. Worth a look, even for the fairly steep asking price
