True Blood: The Dish on Tara's Sexy New Lesbian Romance

How's it going, Truebies? I'm Jager Weatherby from Wetpaint Entertainment, here to dish the dirt on the newly same-sex oriented Tara from the always fabulous True Blood. Before the new season began, we were teased with the rumor that one of our favorite Bon Temps locals was going to burst out of the closet in the Season 4 premiere — and, while we don't want to pat ourselves on the back too hard, we totally called this one by guessing it would be Tara. So here's what we know so far: After Tara left Merlotte's in the dust at the end of Season 3, she spent some time bumming around the South before finally settling down for a gentler, quieter life — just some no-holds-barred cage fighting and late-night L Word re-runs with her super sexy new girlfriend, Naomi. So when Tara said she needed a fresh start, girlfriend meant a giant, game-changing, Ellen DeGeneres-style fresh start. Oh, and name-changing, too! Tara now likes to be called "Toni." And what does Rutina Wesley, who plays Sookie's BFF, make of all of this? The actress recently weighed in on Tara's big Sapphic swap with Entertainment Weekly: "I don't think she was expecting it," Rutina said. "I think it just happened. I think it was one of those things where you just fall in love with who you fall in love with. I don't think she labels herself as one thing or the next. She just started hanging out and the next thing you know, she was in love." So just who is Tara/Toni's very lucky lady, anyway? Well, the bigwigs at True Blood are being super tight-lipped about the future of TV's hottest new all-girl duo — which really shouldn't be a surprise for all of us who have been positively famished for some juicy spoilers. Luckily, though, Naomi's bio over at HBO.com — which says that her involvement with the people of Bon Temps will eventually put her in danger — at least gives us a tiny hint of what's to come. The big question, of course, remains: Will Tara help pull her latest love out of danger? — or will Naomi end up following in Eggs' untimely footsteps?
