Titan Flowering Dec 2012

A quick snapshot of the first flowering of Amorphophallus titanum aka Corpse Flower and Titan Arum at the RBG Melbourne Tropical Glasshouse (apparently also a first for Victoria). It wasn't too smelly, with general wafts of dead possum-like fragrance being noticed now and then. The wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amorphophallus_titanum) is pretty reliable for more info, as well as the current list of recorded flowering events in cultivation. The Titan was 180cm tall the morning it opened, and grew from a 35kg tuber.
