On an average, 10 people die every day on the local tracks of Mumbai. Close to 2900 trains ply on the tracks moving 7.5 million people every single day. Many cross the tracks to defecate in open. I am not sure how many deaths could be attributed to lack of use of toilets.
The people defecating along the tracks are exclusively men. I was told that most of these people have toilets at their house. But they prefer to continue to defecate in open because of the habit.
Location - Between Matunga and Sion station. Camera was setup on top of this bridge -

The slight shake in the video is because the bridge is bouncy and there were many school children who were running on the bridge to make it school in time.
