There is a limit on the thickness that a tig welder can penetrate in a single pass and still be presentable.
I think 11ga (.120") is just about too thick to consistently penetrate with a single pass so for this video, I put a bevel on each piece and gapped the joint.
This joint would be good practice for thicker multipass butt joints as well.
I showed 2 different techniques...lay wire and dip keyhole on the root pass.
For the cover pass, I used the laywire technique with a slight weave.
