In rural America, hospitals serving small communities are closing, creating “medical deserts” where it becomes difficult to get care, especially under emergency circumstances. Maggie Elehwany, from the National Rural Health Association, says it is one of the unintended consequences of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. She joins Soledad O’Brien to explain why insurance companies are pulling out of states, the difficulties in serving rural America and what can be done to save rural hospitals.
