Here is a lively number composed by Carroll Gibbons and played by The Sylvians. Though the tune is good, it obviously didn't catch on as this is a pretty rare disc! The band played at the Savoy Hotel and didn't have a brass section - this was borrowed from the Savoy Orpheans for recording purposes only. I'm guessing that Gibbons himself did the excellent arrangement. The HMV recording quality is outstanding.
I have never come across a photo of The Sylvians, so instead I am using a couple of photos of the Savoy Orpheans from 1927 - by then, several of the personnel above had joined the Orpheans. The studio photo is courtesy of Mark Berresford.
