The Sacred Mission of Art - Alex Grey & Allyson Grey - Entheogeneration 2019

Alex Grey and Allyson Grey share their views on the role of visionary art in global consciousness, individual evolution, and mystical experiences. They discuss the power of art to bring about personal catharsis and spiritual awakening, and share reflections that combine art history and first-hand experiences in creating art on the subject of consciousness. Alex Grey is a visionary artist, author, teacher, and Vajrayana practitioner. His body of work spans a variety of forms including performance art, process art, installation art, sculpture, visionary art, and painting. Allyson Grey is a painter, a social sculptor, and Alex’s creative collaborator. Her paintings essentialize a worldview of chaos, order and secret writing: the material world, the interconnected realm of energy and light, and the sacred symbols of creativity. Alex and Allyson are the co-founders of The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors (CoSM), a non-profit church supporting visionary culture in Wappingers Falls, NY. Hosted by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) and the Zendo Project, the Entheogeneration speaker series launched at Burning Man 2019. A wide variety of educational presentations were held from Wednesday, August 28, 2019, through Saturday, August 31, 2019, featuring topics that explore the latest research and healing opportunities for humanity, how to address issues of inclusion and access, strategies to protect indigenous plant medicine traditions and more, from the brightest leaders active in the field today.
