Welcome to Mythkiller Productions! As always I will be your host, SiriMythkiller, on the first day of Destiny’s new season, the Season of Opulence! Calus has returned and has invited the Guardians to prove they are worthy of all the treasures he can provide!
Before and after the character selection screen, there was a notice and a trailer, highlighting the new items, activities, and raid that are now available! Everything looks very fresh and exciting, so I hope this season can retain and win back players.
First, I stopped by Benedict 99-40, the sweeper bot that is our contact for Calus (he moved into the Annex with all the other DLC characters). There, Calus informed me that I was “ready.” For what, he didn’t specify, but he did invite me to go to Nessus to receive a gift. I checked in with Ikora, who gave her approval and threw in some 690 gear as a bonus.
Calus had deployed a barge to the surface of Nessus. On it was another sweeper bot, Werner 99-40. This one gave us a broken Chalice as Calus outlined his plans for me. Basically, he wanted me to become one of his Shadows, elite warriors he chose from each race to be extensions of his will. He told me to repair the Chalice and gave me another 690 package to boost my Power.
The first step to repair the “Cracked Chalice” was to defeat Cabal and gather fragments. The Conflux lost sector in the Cistern was the perfect place to farm out these kills. It took about three minutes to collect all the pieces.
Next up, we needed to “Prepare an adhesive to rebind the Chalice fragments” by killing Vex with melee attacks (quest step “Mended Chalice”). The catch was I couldn’t die or the count would reset. The Orrery lost sector in Artifact’s Edge provided all the Vex I needed while brosgold kept the boss busy. With that, the Chalice of Opulence was completed!
We still weren’t done, however. I had to go back to the Conflux to raid the boss chest for Imperials, the money system used by the Cabal. This allowed me to unlock a Gear Archetype Slot in the Chalice itself but I didn’t have any runes to slot.
This predicament was solved by completing the weekly bounty “Glorious Harvest.” A single strike as a Nightstalker with Tether allowed me to get all the orbs, experience, and challenge completed in one fell swoop.
The bounty revealed the location of a treasure map, hidden near the Well of Flame in the Cistern. This place doesn’t get used a whole lot so I kind of forgot it was even there. Brosgold and I had a jolly time trying to track down the chest and COMPLETELY overlooked it TWICE! Completing the treasure map bounty in the Pursuits finally gave me a rune to slot in the Chalice, the Rune Of Joy.
The final step for this extensive first quest was to return to Warner 99-40 on the barge. There, Calus congratulated me on completing this first step towards becoming a Shadow. He then insisted I go test myself in the Menagerie, the new 6-player matchmaking activity. Unfortunately, I have to be 690 to even attempt it. But a few more days of work and I should be ready!
