This talk focuses on the introduction and adoption of new words associated with Brexit into the Irish language. While Brexit is still a relatively new word, it is a highly topical subject and many Brexit-related words are now in common usage, e.g. no deal, hard/soft Brexit, Brexiteers, in both English and Irish. This presentation aims to provide an insight into the development of Brexit-related words in the Irish language and explore how they are used in print media. Katie Ní Loingsigh is a native of county Cork and an Irish-language lecturer in St. Angela's College, Sligo, a college of the National University of Ireland, Galway.
