Top stock photographer Yuri Arcurs only keeps 2% of his RAW images and rejects the rest. That means he has to take 1000 images to get 20 he can use.
For National Geographic photographers it is even more severe. A typical assignment consists of taking 20 - 60,000 images and only a dozen or so are published. That means less than 1 in 1000.
