The best budget AK in today's market?

I went looking for the cheapest functional AK pattern rifle I could find. In the current market AK prices are rapidly rising for the $350 that they were only a few short years ago to $600+ for the same rifles. Due to import restrictions you can get 2 types of AKs those built in foreign countries on lines setup by the Soviets and those built inside the US with US made receivers. Both are a bit of a compromise as the foreign built guns usually have to be gimped and have parts swapped out after they are imported, and most of the US made ones are newer manufactures that don't have the amount of experience the Soviet backed plants do. In the end I chose to go with an import, the 2 cheapest are the Serbian NPAP made by Zastava and the Romanian WASR made by Cugir. Both are imported by Century and Compete directly with Century's RAS47 which is their American built AK. Century is rapidly raising the prices of their imported AKs and I was lucky enough to find this one at old $600 price. Thus far it has performed very well even using cheap used Korean AK mags. I mainly purchased this rifle to stack it up in a three way test with a budget AR VS a mini-14 vs a budget AK. Stay tuned for updates.
