After a long season of ups and downs, with plenty of moments of doubt, your Rochester RazorSharks were able to fight through the end of the season and take home their fourth straight PBL Championship! Rochester held off Kentucky in the final seconds to take a 95-94 win. It was an incredible final series, probably the best in PBL history, with point margins of three, two, and one. In fact, the final point totals were exactly even; both teams scored 295 points over the three games. Tonight’s game was just as nerve racking as the first two; a one possession game in the final seconds. With 20 seconds to go, Nick Waddell worked his way inside and was able to earn a hard-fought bucket to take a 94-93 lead. Coach Iversen called a timeout to talk things over with his Sharks. Jerice Crouch got the ball in to Jordan Railey who battled for position on the Mavericks’ big men. He got a hook shot up that bounced twice off the rim and trickled in to take a 95-94 lead with 12 seconds left. Following a Kentucky timeout, Waddell was given the ball again in the low post, but when he went up, he met the palm of Railey, who swatted it right out of bounds. With 2 seconds left in the season, the Mavs passed it in to sharpshooter Ben Vozzola, who came up empty on a fade away three from the corner to give the RazorSharks the 2017 PBL title! Railey’s late game heroics were some of the greatest moments this team has ever seen.
