Tane Solomon (Moriori) talks about the carving wānanga at Kōpinga Marae (2016) and his connection to Rēkohu, which he calls his spiritual homeland. He envisages that Kōpinga will hold more wānanga to encourage young members to become engaged with their culture in a very hands on way. Tane shows us one of the stone taonga he made during the wānanga using a traditional seal design. He thanks John Edgar one of the artist tutors who helped him. _ Filmed by Luke Frater. Includes tāonga puoro as performed by James Webster and recorded on Rēkohu. Directed and edited by Turi Park for Hokotehi Moriori Trust. © 2016-2018.
