Actor Kamal Haasan has tweeted saying, 'I kindly request the Tamil Nadu government to hold talks with Transport Corporation workers to avoid hardships of the general public and also look into the just demands of the workers. This will be the biggest gift the govt can give for Pongal Festival. Tamil Nadu Transport Corporation workers are on flash strike since Thursday evening demanding salary parity with workers in other government corporation. The unions want a hike of 2.57% once in three years but the government is willing to pay only 2.44%. 12 Transport Unions have announced an indefinite strike over the pay anomaly as compared to other states. 80% of buses are off-road across the state. The decision to go on strike comes after the failure in talks with the State Transport Minister.
