Takin Calf Makes its First Appearance - Cincinnati Zoo

Baby takin calf "Meg" got to roam her outdoor habitat for the first time yesterday. The calf, born to parents Harry and Sally on March 18, is doing well and being cared for by mom in Wildlife Canyon. The Cincinnati Zoo is one of only 17 Zoos in the U.S. that care for takins. Takins are listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN red list due to probable decline of at least 30% in last three generations from over hunting and habitat loss.
