Takenobu open for Kishi Bashi live in concert at August Hall in San Francisco, CA on June 12, 2019. This song, "Shou Ga Nai," is a new track from their Conclusion album released on May 24, 2019.
Takenobu refer to themselves as "a live-looping cinematic folk string duo performing original songs with vocal harmonies and ethereal instrumentals." It consists of Nick Ogawa (cello/vocals) and Kathryn Koch (violin/vocals), both of whom are touring musicians with Kishi Bashi. Nick Ogawa has been a composer for NPR's Invisibilia, Netflix's Last Chance U, and the upcoming documentary 42 Grams by Jack Newell. Kathryn Koch has a Masters in Violin Performance and plays regularly with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Opera, and Chattanooga Symphony and Opera.
